Three Levels of Explicit, Systematic Instruction
Some students may only need Level 3. Others will need to start at Level 1 or Level 2, depending on their proficiency. Use the PHONICS for Reading Placement Test to evaluate individual students' phonics skills and determine their appropriate proficiency level.

In Level 1, students explore the basics of phonics including short vowels, double consonants, consonant blends, and consonant digraphs.
